Event Abstract
KVK Scientist conducted a diagnostic field visit at Ontimamidipally village on 08-07-2025 to assess pest incidence in a 45-day-old cotton crop following a request from a farmer. During the visit, Dr. Raju, SMS (Plant Protection) observed initial damage caused by grey weevils, thrips, and leaf hoppers. To control pests, recommended Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices for effective control. These included field sanitization, installation of blue sticky traps @10 per acre for monitoring thrips, spraying of neem oil (1500 ppm) @ 5 ml/litre of water and need-based application of insecticides such as Fipronil 5 SC @ 1.5 ml/litre. Dr A.Raju SMS (PP) also visited the nursery in Singaram village, which was 18 days old, and suggested transplanting at 25 days of age and recommended application of Carbendazim @ 400 g per acre one week before transplanting to manage stem borer infestation in the main field.
